Witch's Hex is an escape room game with a supernatural theme perfect for a Halloween or Autumn team building activity or icebreaker challenge. This game can be played several ways...as a traditional escape room in which participants must complete the challenge in 1 hour to win...or as a competitive group against group challenge where whoever finishes first wins! You decide!
Read aloud the included story sheets to setup the context of the game. While exploring an abandoned witch's cottage in the woods, a member of your group gets hexed by an evil witch and turns into a giant spider. It is up to your group to solve puzzles in order to unlock the ingredients needed to brew the hex cure before time runs out. Can you save your friend from the Witch's Hex in time? or will they be stuck as a spider forever?
This challenge includes 13 puzzles as well as a final incantation that must be solved before time runs out. This game can be played with any amount of players, but it is recommended to break up into small groups for the best play experience.
Play completion will vary depending on group age, skill level, and experience with puzzle solving. This activity is intended for a young adult or adult audience looking for a fun team building activity or icebreaker challenge.
This printable download is set up as a PDF file for printing on standard 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
The activity is setup so that players will ONLY need to write on the provided recording sheets, rather than any of the puzzle sheets. This allows you to print off a majority of the activity sheets only once (or for however many groups you want to play with) and keep re-using them again and again...saving you time, ink, and paper. Printing on thicker paper like cardstock or laminating the re-usable sheets will make them last even longer.

HOW TO PLAY...
- Determine how many groups will be playing
- Decide if you'll be utilizing a time limit or if you want the winner to be the first group to finish
- Print and cut out necessary sheets and items according to Instructions
- Setup container sheets on a table for groups to see and prep puzzle sheets and ingredients cutouts (these will be handed out as groups solve puzzles and progress through the game)
- Break into small groups and distribute the Recording sheets
- Read aloud the Story Sheets and distribute Props when prompted
- Hand out the spellbook sheet to each group and start the time clock if utilizing a time limit
- Facilitate the activity until a group has solved all the puzzles and finished the challenge
